Beverly
4.510528 S Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60643
A family-owned Beverly bakery and roaster on Western Avenue, billed as the only Chicago coffee roaster south of Bridgeport, with 22 coffees by the cup or pound.
“Beverly Bakery is two beloved south-side institutions in one — a from-scratch bakery and a small roaster that fills a real gap on the map. They say they're the only Chicago coffee roaster south of Bridgeport and that's not just marketing; the bag selection is genuinely deep.”
Coffee AND donuts. They're a roaster too. South side gem.

The food here is surprisingly good. I had a vanilla latte that was good but I had to add a little Splenda. The pancakes had a good taste but I asked for well done bacon and instead they brought limp bacon. The o'brien potatoes would have been great if it had been cooked more. I don't really like sending food back so I will go again and ask for those changes.
On Tuesday, October 14th, I took my daughter and grandsons ages 2 and 4 years here for breakfast at the cost of $90.00. The wait staff as always friendly and helpful. However, this morning there was an elderly woman folding boxes, my oldest grandson picked up a sign off a display and this woman yelled at him saying, " Put that sign down sir." She should of used a nicer tone, plus we were just going to take it from him to put it pack. Then she kept giving dirty looks to toddlers whose behaviors were typical for their age. It wasn't as if they were running around the café tearing or knocking things down. They were in the booth with us. Then we were trying to get our to pay for a bill of $73.00 & a $15.00 tip. When the other elderly woman sitting across from the other lady jumped like she was on fire to get us out of there. As I stated before the 2 young ladies were great but if you're going to have people help out they out to learn better costumer service or go volunteer at a library. I found it highly unlikely that I or my family will patronize your place again. I'm not a regular however I go many times throughout the year and have gone here for over 30 years!! This from an elderly women with 2 grandkids!!
Food is not worth the price. My boyfriend and I would come in on occasion because we didn’t really like much else in the area but then a month ago we came in, ordered by 12:30 and our food didn’t come out till 1:00. Pancakes, Veggie Sandwich, and a grilled cheese. Half an hour is a long time for food that takes minutes to make. But the wait bothered me maybe 30%, what really upset me was that two other parties that came in and sat AFTER we ordered or food were served their skillets before we got our food. When I asked what took so long the waitress told me that they had a lot of to go orders come in. Obviously she just forgot to put our food order in, which would have been fine if she just admitted that but lied about the to go orders when only one person came in to pick up while we waited for our food. Then to top it off she said that the veggie sandwich takes a while to cook. 30 minutes for a veggie sandwich? Nope. Will not be coming back. Hearty Cafe down the road has much quicker service and better food worth the price.
I had the vegan blueberry French toast. It was soggy and didn’t have too much flavor. My husband had an egg sandwich and enjoyed it
The food was good they have artwork displayed from local artist and the service was also good.
