A Hinsdale coffee shop on Village Place, house-roasting since 2012 and serving as the village's de facto living room.
“La Fortuna has anchored Hinsdale's coffee scene since 2012 and earned its reputation as the village's living room. House-roasted, community-first, and the kind of place where the regulars greet each other by first name. Comfortable to settle in for an hour or three.”
House-roasted and it shows. My favorite stop in Hinsdale by a wide margin.

Family owned and operated, and you can tell! Loved getting my morning coffee here. The breakfast sandwiches are made to order, tastes extra fresh. Look forward to returning!
Unfortunately, I was not satisfied with my drink. I ordered an iced black brewed (in-house) coffee and it tasted like water. No coffee flavor whatsoever. I asked for light ice and did not see a single ice cube in my coffee. I would give it 0.5 stars if I could. My mom ordered a hot americano with half and half and she was disappointed. She said it had no taste. Overall, it's a coffee shop with no seating inside or outside except for two benches. This was definitely a one time thing.
The brie, apple, and turkey (B.A.T.) and grilled cheese (we typically add ham or turkey) are great. The chocolate cake donuts are fantastic! These also run out early, so be sure to get there before noon. The quality of products makes up for the service. At times feels rushed and unfriendly. It seems this is common feedback via the reviews here. There are a few benches in the alley that serve as outdoor seating. Otherwise, there is nowhere else to sit, including inside.
Cafe La Fortuna is your go-to, neighborhood coffee shop. Family owned, hard working, and rooted in community. You’ll always receive a friendly hello and your order will be ready very quickly- Usually under a minute! Must try!
I love this little hole in the wall, or more accurately this coffee shop that is hidden away from the main street. If you’re just dropping by, there’s free 15 minute parking in front of it, or if you’re wandering around Hinsdale downtown it’s the tiniest detour. Coffee selection is excellent, I had a Mayan hot chocolate espresso that was to die for, also a grilled cheese because it was a comfort food day. It’s been around for 10 years, it’s locally owned it’s women owned what’s not to love?
