Naperville
4.5120 Water St Ste 110, Naperville, IL 60540
Sparrow's flagship cafe on the Naperville Riverwalk, a serious roaster's space with seasonal menus and a downtown-Naperville magnetism.
“Sparrow is the cafe that put Naperville on the specialty coffee map. Riverwalk location, design-forward space, and a roasting program that holds up against anything in the city. Get a window seat and a pour-over and stay a while.”
The Riverwalk location alone is worth the trip. Coffee program is genuinely top-tier.
Crowded on weekend afternoons. Mornings are calmer and the light is great.

Excellent coffee, nice pastries and food. The atmosphere is busy but nice, the hogging of quite a few spaces by laptop‘pers is unfortunate but nothing the cafe can change easily. 4 instead of 5 points as for eating-in the cafe could really do better than serve the food in crappy cardboard boxes with plastic cutlery. Also cold drinks and water are all served in plastic cups - not quite the right touch for an otherwise nice place.
If you like to enjoy a REAL coffee...european style...and enjoy french pastry...this is your place. Just close your eyes and open the front door. The roasted coffee "aroma" will invade your nose. I recommend the Cannelé de Bourdeaux. If you like the vanilla...be ready to enjoy the best companion for your coffee. You will never test something similar again. Not only in Naperville but in Chicagoland.
This is my favorite place to go on the weekends! Their coffee and pastry/breakfast options are delicious. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Especially Casey who even took time to talk to me about how to make coffee at home. I bought an aero press with her and love it! I’m looking forward to taking one of their coffee classes to learn more about making coffee at home. My order Iced chai latte or hot latte with mulled spice syrup & caramel syrup Flaky biscuit egg cheese sandwich (sometimes I add ham) And if I’m feeling extra special their chocolate chip coffee cookie is great!
Sparrow Coffee is hands-down the best coffee shop in Naperville — and there’s a reason they’ve been recognized as the Best Coffee Shop for five years straight. I had a latte here, and it was absolutely fantastic — probably one of the best I’ve ever had. The flavor, texture, and presentation were spot on, and you can really taste the care and craftsmanship that goes into every cup. The atmosphere is modern, welcoming, and perfect for relaxing or getting some work done. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the whole space feels thoughtfully designed — from the sleek interior to the artistic wall decor. If you love coffee, Sparrow Coffee is a must-visit. They truly set the bar for what a great coffee experience should be. My only “complaint,” if you can call it that, was that it was busy. But I’m guessing there’s a reason for that, given everything I just said above.
I stopped by for coffee with a group of four. The atmosphere in the place is really nice—it felt welcoming and comfortable, making it a great space to relax. The coffee itself was very good, clearly made with high-quality beans. We also sampled a few pastries: the cinnamon roll and banana muffin were both good, and the chocolate cookie was decent. The main issue we experienced was the wait time. It took quite a while to receive our order, even though the shop was full but not overwhelmingly packed. While I understand things can get busy, the delay felt disproportionate to the number of patrons present.
