4.5622 Davis St, Evanston, IL 60201
A downtown Evanston classic on Davis Street, serving Chicago's North Shore since 1992 with single-origin coffees from around the world.
“Newport has been on Davis since 1992 and earns it. The bean selection runs deep — they'll grind for whatever brew method you mention — and the room itself feels like a piece of pre-Starbucks coffee history. Easy walking distance from the Davis CTA stop.”
The fact that this place has been here since '92 says everything. Coffee is excellent.

Newport Coffee House feels like a cozy retreat, in my opinion the best coffee place in Evanston. The coffee is rich and balanced and the staff always greet you with a smile. It’s the kind of place where the pastries are gone fast and the cappuccino is worth coming back for. There’s plenty of seats, friendly faces and it just has a relaxed vibe - perfect for hanging out or getting some work done.
A wonderful place to indulge in some caffeine and sugar! Newport Coffee House gets pretty packed with students and plenty of other people because it is a great cafe to study or hang out with friends. The interior is bright and inviting, and the workers were all friendly. I got a latte and chocolate croissant, which were both good. If you’re looking for a new spot to cram all your weekly reading, give Newport Coffee House a visit!
Newport Evanston is such a cool spot. I love the clean, modern design. The coffee was incredible. We spent hours sipping and talking, and it just felt right. Unlike the usual dark coffee houses, Newport is light, bright, and inviting. Service was excellent. Parking was easy. The location is great. I loved it and can’t wait to come back.
Place always has a nice chill crowd. Often go around 9/10 AM. Sometimes there is a line of 5 ahead of you but it moves pretty quickly! I usually get a hot Late, accidentally ordered a cardamom Late and it was pretty decent! Plenty of seating usually for your wait, larger tables if you plan on staying to drink your coffee. Outside seating too when weather permitting
I have never had hot latte in a tall glass that allows me to appreciate the layers of colors. The quiche was delicate, light crust, the custard was infused with warm spices pleasantly surprised me. And a stainless steel fork instead of plastic utensils is a plus.
